An Open Question...

The Detroit Car Show is coming up, and, as this article points out, a new slate of "green" electric and hybrid cars are going to be presented there.  The article isn't kind about their chances in the open market.  The Nissan Leaf seems to have caught everyone's imagination with its clever design, and the Prius has become a sort of badge of honor for the environmentally-minded, even appearing as the vehicle of choice for affable nerds in several recent comedy films.

...Minus the bullet holes, of course.

Basically, they've been championed by everyone from Hollywood to the White House, by Detroit to Nagoya.  And we're an increasingly "green" society, even designing our skyscrapers to be environmentally safe now.  So why aren't they taking off?  Why isn't every driveway in America filled with them?

We would love to know if you own a hybrid or electric car.  If you do own one, we'd like to know why you bought one.  If you don't, we'd like to know if you ever plan to get one, and if the answer is no, why you don't want one.
